☀️ Summer Update: New Beginnings and Staying Connected!

Hey Reader!

It's Susie here, and I've got some exciting updates to share with you all as we head into the summer months.

As you may have heard on today’s podcast episode, Raising Boys in a Patriarchal Society, this will be the last full episode of Rebel Mothers before I take a break for summer! I’ll release another short episode next week to let listeners know what I’ll be up to this summer, but I wanted to let you all know first.

First things first, I'm thrilled to announce that next week will mark the beginning of an exciting journey for me: I've been accepted into a 6-month executive coaching certification program with the Gestalt International Study Center. This opportunity will not only enhance my coaching skills but also bring me one step closer to becoming a Level 2 ICF certified coach.

Many of you are familiar with my MotherBLOOM coaching program, which was born out of my master’s degree capstone project. While I'm super proud of the program's content, I've felt a calling to expand my impact beyond individual coaching sessions. That's why I've decided to pivot towards offering coaching and consulting services to corporations, with a focus on creating inclusive workplaces that support women and mothers. 🎉

This decision has been brewing for some time, it combines my professional background as a workplace consultant and my experiences as a motherhood scholar and coach. It's a natural evolution that really aligns perfectly with my mission to advocate for gender equity and societal change.

Now, I know you might be wondering about the future of the Rebel Mothers podcast. While I'll be taking a break, I'm not saying goodbye just yet! I may release a few additional episodes during the summer, so stay tuned. In the meantime, all past episodes will remain available for you to catch up on.

So, while I won’t be releasing any episodes over the summer, we can still stay connected! I’ll still be sending the occasional newsletter with updates on my coaching certification process. And of course, you can follow me on Instagram @susie.fishleder for behind-the-scenes glimpses and mom-life musings.

Matricentric feminism, which is a huge theme of the Rebel Mothers podcast, centers on the experiences, perspectives, and voices of mothers within the broader feminist movement. Hi Reader, I’m thrilled to share some big news with you: starting January 20, I’m migrating this newsletter to Substack as a new project, Rebel Leaders! You don’t have to do anything; I'll be importing my list this week so you’ll automatically receive my first post when it’s released. But I wanted to give you a little preview of what’s coming and why I’m making this shift. As many of you know, my work with mothers, including my Rebel Mothers podcast, was born out of my desire to challenge the...

You know how, when you buy a blue car, all of a sudden you see all the blue cars on the road? Apparently this phenomenon has a name, it’s the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon or frequency illusion. It occurs when something you've just noticed or learned about suddenly seems to appear everywhere. It's not that the thing is actually more common, but rather that your awareness of it has increased, making it more noticeable. THIS IS MY LIFE RIGHT NOW. (No, I didn’t buy a blue car, but I've always WANTED...

Hi Reader, Last week on the Rebel Mothers podcast, we discussed boundaries in motherhood and I shared a few questions that I have when thinking about boundaries: How do we maintain boundaries without shutting people out? If humans need MORE connection, what role do boundaries have? Is there necessarily a conflict between the good of the individual and the good of the collective? And if so, are boundaries the way to go about solving that? How much is our obsession with boundaries influenced by...
